As a part of McDonald's ongoing commitment to customers, McDonald's restaurants in the United States, Canada and other participating countries are conducting a $10 million instant cash giveaway over five days including the Labor Day Weekend.
Starting Thursday, August 30, 2001 through Monday, September 3, 2001, 55 prizes totaling $10 million dollars will be awarded at randomly selected McDonald's restaurants. Five $1 million prizes, payable in installments, and 50 $100,000 prizes will be awarded to customers during the five-day period. Eleven cash prizes will be awarded daily to individuals visiting McDonald's restaurants.

McDonald's 2001 Instant Giveaway Prize Teams will award cash prizes to customers at McDonald's restaurants using specific criteria to identify individuals. The criteria includes random selection of:
-- Restaurant Location -- Time of Day -- Location within the restaurant or Drive-Thru
Customers could become winners by walking into a McDonald's or pulling up to the Drive-Thru window. No purchase is required to participate. As potential winners are identified, preliminary verification will be conducted on-site at the restaurants. A list of locations where preliminary winners have been identified will be available at mcdonalds.com during the giveaway. Confirmed winners will be announced several days later after final verification of eligibility has been completed.
The McDonald's 2001 Instant Giveaway is being conducted after McDonald's learned last week that an employee of an outside vendor had allegedly compromised some of the McDonald's promotional games.
