* More Than Half Billion Meals to Rescue & Recovery Teams * $4.5 Million For American Red Cross From Canisters * Thousands of Letters from School Kids to Rescue Heroes * $1 Million From Ronald McDonald House Charities * $1 Million From McDonald's Corporation DETAILS: * Meals Served: More than 650,000 McDonald's meals served: Quarter Pounders, Chicken McNuggets, bottled water, orange juice and soft drinks served to rescue and recovery workers at "Ground Zero" in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania. * Ground Zero: McDonald's mobile unit at "Ground Zero" in New York has now served approximately 600,000 meals to relief workers. This service is ongoing. * Letters: Thousands of letters from school kids are going directly to rescue and recovery heroes along with the food in McDonald's bags. * American Red Cross: An estimated $4.5 million collected at McDonald's U.S. restaurants through Ronald McDonald House Charities' canisters now earmarked for the American Red Cross.
