The Governor of New Hampshire today passed a resolution proclaiming May 25, 2002 as National Salute to the U.S. Military Day. The day supports National Military Appreciation Month which is intended to celebrate and honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Governor Jeanne Shaheen (D) signed the resolution which encourages New Hampshire residents to join in honoring the brave men and women in the uniform during Memorial Day weekend.
"On behalf of McDonald's owner operators, suppliers and employees in the State of New Hampshire, we are proud that Governor Shaheen has signed a resolution supporting National Salute to the U.S. Military Day," said Mike Roberts, president of McDonald's USA. "We want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women in uniform who are protecting our freedoms everyday."
The state proclamation and National Salute to the U.S. Military are supported by McDonald's Corporation. The company is also presenting a star-studded one-hour primetime CBS special called "Rockin' for the USA: A National Salute to the U.S. Military" on May 25 to recognize and celebrate the heroic efforts of our nation's military. The special, taped aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Harry S. Truman, is hosted by Oscar Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. and features performances by major recording artists Celine Dion, Marc Anthony, Clint Black, Jessica Simpson and comedian Jeff Foxworthy. New Hampshire residents can tune in to watch the special with the rest of America when it airs on CBS at 9 p.m. EDT.
