WHO: McDonald's® and ESPN WHAT: Invite you to tune in to ESPN during the 6 p.m. (EST) Sportscenter for the official announcement of the 2003 McDonald's All American High School Boys and Girls Basketball Teams WHEN: Thursday, February 27, 2003 Starting at 6 p.m. (EST) WHERE: ESPN WHY: This special segment announcement will showcase the final 48 players who have been selected to compete in the 26th McDonald's All American High School Basketball Game for boys and the second annual Girls Game. Both Games take place on March 26, 2003 at the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The Boys Game will be broadcast live on ESPN starting at 7 p.m. (EST) and the Girls Game will air Tuesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. (EST), also on ESPN. BACKGROUND: Approximately 2,500 top high school boy and girl basketball players from across the country were nominated to the McDonald's All American Teams. From that list of nominees, a committee of prominent boys and girls basketball experts selected the final team members. Morgan Wootten, the winningest coach in high school basketball history, serves as chairman of the selection committee, and legendary UCLA coach John Wooden, who has been involved in the McDonald's All American Game since its inception, serves as overall chairman of the Game and as an advisor to the selection committee. Proceeds from the 2003 McDonald's All American Game will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast and Youngstown, Ohio.
