"Tim has demonstrated a strong track record in operations that will help us grow our business by improving our customer's experience," said Mike Roberts, president, McDonald's USA. "Everything we're doing today for the US business is focused on what matters most to our customers - offering better service, improving the taste of our food and creating a more relevant dining experience."
Fenton most recently served as Senior Vice President of Southeast Asia, Middle East, and Africa, where he had direct responsibility for 1,300 restaurants in 22 countries. In this role, he provided important oversight for market development, restaurant operations, sales growth, financial performance and brand development.
Fenton is a 29-year veteran of the McDonald's system, with more than 17 years in the U.S. business where he started as crew. He moved quickly through a variety of field operations positions, including director of operations in the Kansas City Region. He served in various international management positions, including Managing Director, McDonald's Poland; Vice President, McDonald's Central Europe; and Vice President/Managing Director, McDonald's Middle East.
Fenton will report to Ralph Alvarez, executive vice president and chief operations officer, McDonald's USA, and will be responsible for approximately 5,000 McDonald's restaurants in the eastern United States.
"Tim is also another example of an exceptional employee who started as crew and has built an exciting career at McDonald's," added Roberts. "He's a true testament on how the combination of McDonald's on-the-job training, leadership development, teamwork and customer service can provide you with skills that last a lifetime. Approximately 50 percent of our corporate, division and regional staff and 30 percent of our franchisees began their careers behind the counter in our neighborhood restaurants."
McDonald's is the world's leading food service retailer with more than 30,000 restaurants around the world serving 46 million customers each day.
