McDonald's Corporation announced it has divested itself from its investment in eMac Digital Corporation.

In announcing this divestiture, McDonald's Chairman and CEO Jim Cantalupo said, "Our first priority at McDonald's is revitalizing our core business. In order to focus as much attention as possible on our revitalization plan, we have ended projects that aren't focused on adding customers and sales to our existing 30,000 restaurants."

As a result of this divestiture, Accel-KKR Company, L.L.C., McDonald's partner in the eMac venture, has purchased McDonald's ownership interest in eMac.

While McDonald's has divested itself of its ownership, eMac and McDonald's will continue a customer-supplier relationship. eMac has been selected to develop and market McDonald's next generation POS (point-of-sale) software. Meanwhile, eMac will continue to market its NewPOS point-of-sale software system currently being used in some McDonald's markets outside the U.S.
