McDonald's Corporation's (NYSE: MCD) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Jim Cantalupo, announced today the appointment of Jan Fields to the role of Division President, McDonald's U.S.A. Central Division. Fields replaces Ralph Alvarez who was recently named U.S. Chief Operations Officer.

Fields will report to Alvarez with responsibilities for approximately 4,300 McDonald's restaurant operations in the central United States.

"Jan's tireless work on behalf of our brand and our customers is reason enough to recognize her with this appointment. But, she also brings a breadth and depth of operations expertise to the role that is critical to our current efforts to improve our results by improving our customers' experience," said Cantalupo.

Fields, a veteran of the McDonald's system, began as a crew member in Dayton, Ohio in 1978. She quickly moved through the restaurant management and field operations tracks, culminating in positions such as director of operations for the southeast in 1993, and management positions as the regional vice president for the Pittsburgh Region and vice president of the company- operated restaurants in the Great Lakes Division.

In Fields' former position, as Chief Support Officer for the Central Division, she served as a key senior advisor to the division president, was a member of the company's national operations leadership and provided oversight to the restaurants in the division.

McDonald's U.S.A. President, Mike Roberts, honored Fields today. "In a company filled with dedicated and passionate people, Jan's at the top of the list. She's a valued and respected leader among her employees and with our owner/operators. She has a proven track record of results and an unquenchable passion for our business and our customers, and our people" Roberts said.

McDonald's is the world's leading food service retailer with more than 30,000 restaurants around the world serving 46 million customers each day.
