Russ Smyth, President, McDonald's Europe, today announced the appointment of Kay Napier as Senior Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald's Europe.

"Kay Napier is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering real results during her 23-year career in the marketing arena. Prior to joining McDonald's, one of Kay's numerous marketing responsibilities was managing brands for The Procter & Gamble Company in Europe. She understands the marketplace and will be a valuable addition to our European management team as we move aggressively into the next phase of McDonald's strategic revitalization plan," said Smyth.

Larry Light, Global Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, added, "Kay helped lead the U.S. company's foray into marketing to women -- both moms and individuals -- with the successful launch of premium salads, and the development of an adult 'Go Active' Happy Meal. We are sharpening our focus on marketing in Europe and Kay will help lead our efforts with the kind of fresh, innovative thinking that is defining our breakthrough 'i'm lovin' it' campaign."

Since joining the company in November of 2002, Napier has worked closely with McDonald's U.S.A.'s Senior Vice President of Marketing Bill Lamar on the premium salad launch, the "Go Active" Adult Happy Meal and other U.S. marketing initiatives.

Prior to joining McDonald's, Napier served as Procter & Gamble's Vice President of North America Pharmaceuticals and Corporate Women's Health & Vitality where she was responsible for leading Procter & Gamble's U.S. and Canadian pharmaceutical efforts.
