WHAT: Presents several key Olympic moments for customers and media
worldwide in Sydney, Australia:
* September 2 - Grand Opening of McDonald's Restaurants in the
Athletes Village - McDonald's Australia proudly serves up the
first McDonald's Olympic meals to athletes at McDonald's
Olympic Village Casual Dining restaurant.
* September 16 - Nine-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis
Joins McDonald's CEO Jack Greenberg to Honor Outstanding
Youth from Around the World - More than 400 McDonald's
Olympic Achievers from nearly 200 countries will attend an
official McDonald's Welcome Reception at McDonald's Central
Restaurant at Sydney Olympic Park, hosted by Olympian Carl
Lewis, McDonald's management and Crew from around the world.
These young Olympic Achievers will also be participating in
the Sydney 2000 International Youth Camp, held in conjunction
with the Olympic Games. Media interviews and photo
opportunities will be available.
* September 22 - McDonald's Olympic Achievers Visit the
Ronald McDonald House® - A group of McDonald's Olympic
Achievers will visit the Ronald McDonald House Randwick to
meet families and tour the facility.
* September 24 - Olympian Amy Van Dyken Salutes McDonald's
International Crew- McDonald's crew from around the world
will serve Olympic gold medal swimmer Amy Van Dyken a Big
Mac® sandwich at a special reception in the Athletes
Village, Casual Dining McDonald's restaurant.
DID YOU McDonald's seven Olympic restaurant venues will serve
KNOW? nearly 1.5 million sandwiches in three weeks (or
13,000 sandwiches daily) to athletes, coaches,
officials, spectators and media during the Sydney 2000
Olympic Games.
