Chicago's Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program Unveiled as Part Of International Gathering
Free Pediatric Healthcare Provided to Chicago's Underserved Communities

WHAT: Ronald McDonald House Charities is unveiling a new state of
the art Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, 40-foot pediatric
medical clinic on wheels, which will bring free healthcare
services directly to children in their own neighborhoods in
the Chicagoland area later this year. Additional plans for
an entire fleet of the Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles around
the world will also be announced.
This event kicks off a three-day International Conference in
Chicago, where delegates from 33 countries are convening to
discuss the Charities' mission of directly improving the
health and well being of children around the world.

HIGHLIGHTS: Media will be allowed to tour the 40-foot state-of-the-art
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. Each Ronald McDonald Care
Mobile houses two patient examination rooms, including
prenatal exam capabilities, a laboratory, a reception and a
medical records area -- and the latest in telemedicine
technology to better serve rural areas.
BACKGROUND: Currently there are four Care Mobiles in operation in the
U.S. with plans for a total of 12 programs by the end of
2001 -- including Chicago. By partnering with the University
of Chicago and LaRabida Children's Hospitals, the Ronald
McDonald Care Mobile Chicago initiative brings healthcare
services directly to children in need, completely free of
charge.
